Winter
in Big Sky offers more than just skiing. True, Big
Sky Ski & Summer Resort has over 3,500 skiable acres accessed
by 13 lifts and a vertical drop of more than 4,100 feet.
Needless to say, the skiing is sensational, but with an
average annual snowfall hovering near 400 inches,
your options are limitless.
Big
Sky actually has three mountains to delight skiers and
snowboarders. Lone Mountain is the resort's signature
peak, rising to a lofty 11,166 feet. The Lone Peak Tram
takes the adventuresome to its very apex, with 3,600 acres,
4,350 jaw-dropping vertical feet and European-style
expert terrain below
Adjacent Andesite Mountain has some the resort's most
notable intermediate cruising runs, some comfortable south-facing
beginner trails, several expert tree runs and a giant
half-pipe and terrain park. Flat Iron Mountain is
on the eastern shoulder of Andesite and offers even more
variety.
Spend
the day cross-country skiing at Lone Mountain Ranch or
snowmobiling through Big Sky’s valleys and canyons. Flyfishing,
horseback riding and snowshoeing are other alternatives
available to outdoor enthusiasts, plus there’s always
Yellowstone National Park, which makes for an awe-inspiring
daylong excursion. At the end of it all, gather up the
troops and take them on an enchanting sleigh ride dinner.
Come to Big Sky and experience these winter adventures
for yourself!

Places to Stay in Montana
Selected Lodges, Ranches, Cabins and Hotels.
When
visiting Big Sky we have a few very nice resorts, but we
highly recommend Big EZ lodge. Big EZ Lodge is a
very special place indeed. The lodge is located in a secluded
spectacular high Alpine meadow at over 7,000 ft above sea
level. The views are incomparable and breathtaking.
The lodge is very hard to describe, it blends ultra luxury
and rustic western and alpine styles for an unforgettable
combination. click

The food is again spectacular (forgive
my overuse of this word, but if you do visit this lodge, you'll
see why I use the word). When we visited the lodge we had
meals like Caribou chops, Buffalo tenderloin, Thai shrimps,
duck confit and other wonderful food I have never had before.
Needless to say with food like that, the wine list was also
exceptional and the cocktails seemed to taste better while
being consumed on the deck or in the lounge overlooking the
Valley and Gallatin Range from such a high elevation. |
